On July 28th, the first plenary session of the 7th Chinese Veterinary Pharmacopoeia Committee was held in Beijing, and the preparation of the 2025 edition of the Chinese Veterinary Pharmacopoeia was fully launched. Ma Youxiang, Vice Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and Chairman of the 7th Chinese Veterinary Pharmacopoeia Committee, attended the meeting and delivered a speech.
The meeting believes that the previous Veterinary Pharmacopoeia Committee has achieved significant results, effectively improving the level of veterinary drug standards in China, gradually clarifying the veterinary drug standard system, and strengthening the technical foundation for the healthy development of the veterinary drug industry.
The meeting emphasized that there are still problems with the current animal medicine standards, such as insufficient scientific classification, inadequate implementation of standards, and inadequate standard management systems. We must scientifically understand the importance of animal medicine standards, strive to build a scientific, standardized, and effective animal medicine standard system, and use the "most rigorous standards" to support the high-quality development of the animal medicine industry.
The meeting called for adhering to the people-centered development philosophy, encouraging good veterinary drugs, phasing out inferior veterinary drugs, and cracking down on counterfeit and inferior veterinary drugs. We should do a good job in the preparation of the seventh edition of the Veterinary Pharmacopoeia, and focus on reflecting the universality, practicality and progressiveness of the national standards for veterinary drugs. We must urgently improve the management system of animal medicine standards, accelerate the research and formulation of the "Measures for the Management of Animal Medicine Standards", and clarify the direction and mechanism of animal medicine standard work. Efforts should be made to strengthen the research on veterinary drug standard substances, and to effectively supply and manage veterinary drug standard substances. We should fully leverage the support and coordination role of the Office of the Veterinary Pharmacopoeia Committee to provide technical support for administrative decision-making and supervision of law enforcement in veterinary drug management.
